Jo from Tennessee
made a wonderful wedding gift. Her towels could not help but be a hit--I
would have loved getting these as a gift when I was married! She used
the designs from the Love and Marriage set. Thoughtful AND beautiful,
Jo! |

Mary Lewis
of Jacksonville, Florida obviously loves square dancing--what a perfect
skirt and blouse. She used the Swing Your Partner set to create an
outfit that has to be the envy of all her dancing friends! I'd love to
see that skirt whirling around--just makes me want to dance, too! |

I LOVE what Susan Skuda
of Knoxville, Tennessee did with the Pumpkin Patch Hunnies. What an
adorable, fun shirt to wear! Good Susan doesn't live too close--I'm
afraid I'd want to borrow this shirt....permanently! Great job, Susan! |
|
Nadine Schneider made curtains for a little
guy named Deven using the Soccer Hunnies designs. Perfect for a little
boy who loves soccer! (Great for little girls, too, since Soccer Hunnies
come in both boys and girls.) You could also use ready-made
curtains--what a great idea to decorate that special boy's room--bet
Deven loves these! |

Carol Sorsdahl,
my good friend from Washington, made these burp pads from diapers using
the Duckie Delights designs. There is a little ribbon of ducks under the design and lace on each edge.
Carol found the diapers were too thick in the center to use the applique fabric, so
she just used the outlines! What a
great idea, fast and adorable! |

Such a
sweet dress made by Sally Chadwick of
Olathe, Kansas for her granddaughter. She used the Hallelujah Hunnies
designs around the skirt bottom, finishing of with a matching band of
blue fabric for the hem. What little girl wouldn't love wearing this to
Sunday School? Wonderful idea and great job, Sally! |

Take a peek at these two made by Margaret Robeaux of Port Sulphur, Louisiana.
She used the Dancing Darlings designs as gifts for her granddaughters for their dance review. As you can see one granddaughter is blonde and the other brunette!
This was Margaret's first attempt at quilting and she did a great
job--she tells me she thinks she is hooked. No wonder. Those little
girls now have something very special from their grandma!

This is the most inventive idea I've heard of for those
sweet Duckie Delights. Dexter Dobberpuhl of Martinez, California
actually put little beepers in these duckies. Now they actually talk!
How fun is that?.

Are these little outfits too cute or what? Made using
the Pocket Pets and Trains, Planes and Automobiles pocket appliqués. In
case you can't tell, these designs are actual little pockets. In Trains,
Planes and Automobiles, the train and airplane form the front part of
the pocket and, in the Scooby design, the dog's muzzle forms the front
of the pocket. Kids just love that little pocket and, you could even use
these for a Tooth Fairy project.
Thanks go to Carol Filbeck of San Diego, California for
sharing with us. What tot wouldn't love these?!!! (And their mommies,
too.)

Carol Tupper of Goodland, Kansas made this fabulous jacket for
her 8 year old granddaughter. Her granddaughter picked the designs. What
a great gift idea!
Carol tells me she has made several jackets like this for sale,
using Amy's Jacket pattern. It is an adult jacket so, to bring it down
to a child's size, Carol bought McCall's pattern number 4220 to use as a basic pattern and re-designed it.
Carol says her granddaughter really thinks she is something wearing it,
and well she should!
Carol says she feels pretty cool to think her
granddaughter likes this stuff. Carol's mother was always sewing something
for her girls when they were little, so she is having fun keeping the tradition going.
If you have any questions about this great project,
Carol has given permission to e-mail her:

Here is a very special dress Leslie Duran of Mc Chord AFB,
Washington. The dress was made using the
Over the Rainbow Appliqué designs. It was made for a charity auction to help the families affected by hurricane
Charley. Their theme was "After every storm there is a rainbow... Lets help make that rainbow
brighter." As it turned out, this design set was exactly what they
were looking for to convey that message.
In Leslie's words, "The dress was so fun, and the little angel was the sweetest touch - she really made it special!"
I think Leslie is the one who is very special and this
dress is about as cute as can be, not to mention the sweetie wearing it!

Jean shorts using the 4x4 size Message
of Love design from the Heavently Tidbits set.
This project was easy and inexpensive to do. Using a cut off pair of
jeans about worn through in the knees, I embroidered the design on one
side, but I left the pocket intact. The pockets are the perfect size for
a cell phone, keys, cash and such and I didn't want to take away that
convenience so simply tucked the pocket up during embroidery. Then
I added some purchased, glue-on jewels, though you could also use
sparkles with a heat wand, too. Sewed on some eyelet lace around the leg
edges and those old, worn out jeans have become favorite shorts for a
special little girl.
Using the same idea, you could open up the legs and trim a bit, then
sew across the bottom, add a strap and you would have a fun purse. I
don't know about other parts of the country, but I'm seeing the young
ladies around here (Southern California) toting the jean purses and have
found them in some of the local stores.
