Bear Shown - Requires a 5x7 Hoop for both hoopings

First Hooping - Read from left to right
You will need thread and fabric pieces for your design, one color for your lining and one for the outside of the design. A 1/4 yard of fabric will make more than one.  Wind a partially full bobbin for each cover stitch color in the design. Use the appropriate bobbin with the same color of thread so the back will match.
All designs require 2 hoopings. Start with the front of the design.

1. Hoop tear-away stabilizer and sew the front placement lines.
Place lining fabric right side down under the hoop to cover the placement line. Place bear fabric right side up on top of hoop to cover the placement line. Using embroidery temporary adhesive spray such as Sulky 505 on the back of the fabrics helps hold the fabric flat and in place.

2. Sew the tack down line. Remove the hoop from the machine and trim close to stitching for both the bear fabric on the top side of the hoop and lining fabric on the bottom side of the hoop. Sharp, curved embroidery scissors work best.

Shown to the right is the trimmed top bear fabric on the top and the back side on the bottom.

3. Embroider the face details. 4. Embroider the satin cover stitch and remove the hoop from the machine. Tear away stabiliaer from around satin stitching. You may also carefully tear away around tack down line, but I find it better to trim this area with embroidery scissors.
Set front pieces aside and move to the second hooping.

Hoop tear away stabilizer.

1. Embroider placement line and place lining fabric over top to cover the placement line. Use embroidery adhesive spray to hold in place.
2. Sew ribbon placement lines
Position the ribbon ends over the placment lines. Use adhesive spray to help. You may need to hold the ribbon ends in place as the ribbon tack down lines are sewn.

3. Sew the ribbon tack down lines.
Now place the bear fabric, right side down, under the hoop to cover the placement line. Lift the edge of the lining fabric as shown so you can easily see where to place the fabric or remove the hoop and use adhesive spray to attach fabric to the back of the hoop.

4. Sew the bear tack down line. Again, hold that ribbon in place to be sure it doesn't fold as the line is sewn. Once the tack down line is sewn, the ribbon will not fold. Remove the hoop and trim close to the tack down line both on top of the hoop and underneath as you did in the first hooping.
5. Stitch placement line for bottom front. 6. Spray back of bottom front with adhesive spray and align bottom edges along placement line and stitch tack down line.
7. Spray back of top front with adhesive spray and align top edge to bear top edge. Stitch tack down line. 8. Embroider satin cover stitch. Remove hoop from machine and pull away stabilizer.
